01The Challenge

Sports clubs sit at an unusual intersection of institution, community organization, and youth development program, and their websites need to serve several very different audiences at once. The core challenges I needed to solve as the builder were:

* Multiple distinct audiences under one roof. Fans following the senior team, parents evaluating the youth football school for their children, sponsors assessing the club's credibility, and press looking for news all need different information, presented differently.

* Communicating institutional credibility and history. A club with a long competitive track record (multiple IFA Shield titles, a Durand Cup championship, I-League participation) needed its history and achievements presented in a way that builds trust and reputation, not buried in text.

* Youth development as a distinct offering. The United Sports Football Schools and various youth teams (Under-17, Under-15, Grassroots, Pathachakra) represent a separate value proposition from the senior team, essentially a parallel "product" aimed at parents rather than fans, and needed its own clear navigation path.

* Visual storytelling through media. Football clubs live and die by imagery and atmosphere, match photos, youth training sessions, team moments, so the site needed a strong, well organized gallery system rather than treating photos as an afterthought.

* Keeping governance and structure transparent. Information like board management, club management, and sponsors needed to be presented clearly to reinforce the club's legitimacy as an established institution, not just a casual local team.

02The Strategy

I structured the site's navigation around the club's genuinely different audiences rather than treating it as a single generic "About/News/Contact" site. Youth Development sits as its own top level section (leading into the Football Schools) distinct from Our Teams, which covers the Senior Team, Pathachakra, and the various youth age group squads, so a parent looking for football coaching for their child isn't wading through senior team match content to find it.

For institutional credibility, I built out a dedicated About section covering History, Board Management, Club Management, and Sponsors as distinct, clearly organized pages, giving the club a professional, transparent presence appropriate for an organization with real competitive pedigree and sponsor relationships to maintain.

On the media side, I implemented a filterable gallery system (organized by competition, such as Calcutta Football League or I-League Second Division) so visitors can browse photos by the moments and tournaments that matter to them, rather than scrolling through an undifferentiated photo dump. I also built out the News section and achievements showcase to keep the club's ongoing activity and competitive history visible and easy to reference.

03Execution

A parent researching football coaching for their child lands on the site, navigates to Youth Development, and finds the Football Schools program along with relevant youth team pages, without needing to sift through senior team match coverage. A fan or alumnus, on the other hand, might head straight to Our Teams or the Gallery to relive specific tournament moments, filtering photos by competition. A prospective sponsor or partner can review the club's achievements, history, and management structure to evaluate the club's credibility before reaching out through the Contact page.

The build on WordPress prioritized clean, audience based information architecture over generic templating, ensuring that a site serving fans, parents, players, and sponsors simultaneously didn't feel like a single undifferentiated blob of content. The gallery system was built with filtering by competition and event in mind, since photo browsing is one of the most emotionally engaging parts of a sports club's website. The overall structure was kept flexible enough to grow naturally as the club adds new seasons, achievements, and youth programs over time.

The Outcome

Building the United Sports Club website meant recognizing that a football club's website isn't one audience's site, it's several audiences' site at once: fans, parents, sponsors, and the football community. The navigation structure, credibility focused governance pages, and competition organized gallery reflect what it actually takes to serve all of them well from a single platform. It's a strong example of how thoughtful information architecture, more than flashy features, is what makes an institutional sports website genuinely useful to the people who rely on it.

Absolute IP Ownership

No hostage
situations.

The most dangerous part of outsourcing software is not owning the thing you paid for. I've seen founders pay heavily, only to realize the agency still holds the keys.

Everything I build is 100% your intellectual property from day one. You own the code, the infrastructure, and the data. No lock-in.

"Working with Shubham Bhattacharya & his team was a very professional experience throughout the project. They understood the operational side of our football club and academy structure properly and delivered a platform that feels far more organised and easier for our team to manage daily. The final system reflects the identity of the club much better now, and overall usability has improved significantly for both management and supporters. "
